We have had a long couple of weeks- at least in the evening hours. I quit nursing Sophia and started her on formula full time. She began very fussy and inconsolable especially in the evenings. I was convinced she had colic, however, when we went to the doctor last week the pediatrician thinks it is an allergy to soy in the formula and a touch of acid reflux. So we had switched formulas and started on Zantac for the reflux. It has seemed to help so far as Sophie is not nearly as fussy as she once was- thank goodness! She is still fussy in the evening which I hear is quite common but it doesn't make it any easier! We are going to try a couple of different options tonight if she starts fussing to see if we can comfort her. (I hope it works!!!) Marty and I are very thankful that she is good during the night hours. Generally I give her a bath, put some lotion on her, and put her in the crib and she goes right to sleep- pretty impressive!! I can't wait to start reading to her, I have tried but she is not interested yet. She usually sleeps for about 4-5 hours then wants to eat and goes right back to sleep. About 3 hours later, she is ready to eat again, and back to sleep. Somehow we have really lucked out with this, and I hope it continues.

Sophia is not a good napper either. During the day, she tries to stay awake as much as possible after her 9:00 feeding. If she does fall asleep during the day it is on me or Marty, then when you go to put her in the crib, she starts to cry! I hope this is just a phase and will begin to nap on her own soon. She is currently asleep in the bouncy seat, so maybe this will be the place for naps soon! I could get some much done if she were to cooperate with this just a little :) I do love to hold her though and watch her sleep, she is just so cute!!!

Here are some pictures that I have meant to post for a while!!

Sophie is really starting to like the bouncy chair. She is currently asleep in it now!

I love my nana! I love this one since Sophia is looking right at Nana!

GO CATS!!!

  1. It gets easier all the time! Around 7 weeks Anna was sleeping anywhere from 6 to 9 hours every night, uninterrupted! I bet Sophia will start doing the same very, very soon. It will happen before you know it, but so far she is doing well if you are only up twice during the night. Napping was a different story for us. Until AC was about 4 months it seemed like she would not nap during the day in her crib. She was about 6 months before we were on any kind of real nap schedule and she didn't start taking longer naps until she was more physically active around 8 months. But, time flies! You will get there! She is precious and I can't wait to see her again soon. xoxo
