Daddy's Big Adventure

As many of you know, Marty bought a kayak and has been on a couple of short trips here and there. This week Daddy went to Charlotte, North Carolina to meet Uncle Led for a relaxing mini vacation. Mommy and Sophia stayed at home since it was not going to be the best time for baby Sophia to make a long road trip. In Charlotte, there is a US training center for kayakers~ the Olympic team trains here for the games. It boasts the largest man made river in the States and has Class 3 and Class 4 rapids. The park is awesome ~ it is over 400 acres and has biking trails, zip lines, white water rafting, just to name a few activities. Marty had a great time, but Mommy and Sophie are soooo happy he is back at home with us. Check out the pics!

So Funny!!!!

Sophie is growing like a weed! She is so much more aware of her surroundings than before. It truly is amazing. She watches our every move. If we leave the room, she cries for us to return. If she drops something on the floor, she looks to see where it fell. She is also getting scared of certain things- like Daddy with shaving cream on his face and the vacuum cleaner. She seems to have perfected the army crawl as well, however, still loves to roll around the room which is her main mode of transportation.

Happy 2nd Birthday, Anna!!!

So, I really don't have many skills when it comes to uploading pics to the blog. I wanted to put Anna first and thought I did... Clearly it did not happen. ANYWAY, Happy birthday to sweet Anna Claire. We enjoyed her party at her house last weekend :) Anna is always so excited to see Sophia when we come over, she certainly loves her little cousin! I can't wait for Sophie to get big enough to play with Anna~ I know they will be great friends and probably a little trouble for us too!

Sophia has had another great week. She has been sooooo happy lately. I guess it is in part to feeling better as Daddy took her to the doctor on Monday, and she had a mild ear infection. Thanks to the antiboitic, it has cleared right up. She certainly never missed a beat, was just congested and had a cough, but now it is all gone. I am still expecting her to crawl any day, she is rolling all over the place and army crawling. Maybe next week....

7 Months~ Almost

It's been a while since I have posted any pictures of Sophia. She is growing up so quickly, and Marty and I are amazed by the differences in her every day- I know I have said that before, but it is amazing. Sophie is the sweetest little baby- she is happy most of the time and loves to smile. She is infatuated with dogs the most, and it doesnt matter if it is our dogs or anyone else's dog. She is constantly putting stuff in her mouth and chewing on it. She is always drooling like a waterfall. We really think that any day she will be crawling, she gets up on all fours and rocks. Then she gets really mad that she is not going anywhere, and decides to roll all over the room. She is eating all kinds of baby food, and now oatmeal instead of rice. She seems to like veggies better than fruit for the time being- I am sure that will not last for long though. Sophia was pretty stopped up with a yucky cough last week, so Daddy took her to the doctor. No big deal just a viral infection. Her weight was 19 pounds~ WOW!!!! Mommy and Daddy are truly blessed to have such a wondeful baby.

Those Funny Pugs

Sophie LOVES Jasper, she absolutely cracks up when she sees him :) YouTube has changed their format, and I haven't contacted my tech person (Katie) to see how this works yet- so I hope this works!

6 Months!!!

Sophia turned 6 months old this week! GOSH-- Marty and I can't believe that she is already 6 months. She is growing so fast and does so many new things every day it seems. According to the doctor's visit on Thursday, Sophia is 27 inches long which puts her in the 90th percentile for height, and 17pounds and 14 ounces- the 84th percentile for weight. She is doing all the things that 6 month old babies should do! She is sitting for long periods of time unassisted. When she is on her belly, she is pushing all the way up and trying to get up on all fours like she is crawling (scary!!! We really don't think that it will be long before she is crawling around everywhere.) She has 2 teeth that are showing a little bit. She is laughing a lot, especially at Jasper when she sees him. She loves men, and tries to 'flirt" with them.

On a another note, she has adjusted well to Mommy going back to school. When she sees the babysitter on days she goes there, she is excited when she sees Laurie. Of course when she goes to Grandmom's, she has a great time all day!!! Thanks, Grandmom!!! All in all, the transition back to work for Mommy has been good for her. We are lucky to have such a wonderful, wel-adjusted little girl! What a happy, happy baby!

Time to Sit

Sophie is now sitting up at stretches longer than 5 seconds. For the last couple of weeks she has been sitting up some, but today something really changed and she has it down pretty well!~ Marty and I are truly amazed by her, but at this rate she may be crawling before we are ready.
