New Pictures

Another week has come and gone. Sophia is growing like a weed. She is getting to be so heavy to us! She is now eating rice cereal and seems to like it ok- most of the time. Next week we will start introducing veggies to her. Wish us luck! Sophia is also starting to sleep in her crib during the day now. It was a challenge but she finally got it. At first, she absolutely HATED it and would cry as soon as we would lie her down in the crib. Now, after a couple minutes of rocking her- just a little whimper and then she falls asleep. Don't get me wrong, she would much rather sleep in her car seat than anywhere else during the day. Another big milestone- she rolled from her back to her belly last week. She did this feat for Daddy while Mommy was at a training for school. Of course, once I got home she wouldn't do it. I would leave the room, and then she would roll! Now, she gets mad when she rolls over onto her tummy since she does not like to be on her belly. I think it is just a matter of time before she is rolling all over the place!

Sophia really has the best deposition. She is such a happy baby and just goes with the flow. She loves to smile and mimics all kinds of different sounds that we all make at her. She is also starting to laugh more and more- it is the CUTEST giggle I think I have ever heard.

Mommy and Daddy went and stayed the night at LeeAnn's house this week. Sophia stayed at Aunt Kate's and Nana's houses. A big thanks to both of them for letting us enjoy a night out and day at King's Island. While it was fun to go to King's Island, we can't wait for Sophie to be old enough to go and ride the kiddie coasters. So much fun is coming for all of us!!!

Father's Day and More

Another weekend had come and gone. This weekend we celebrated Father’s Day – Daddy went to play golf with some friends, while Mommy and Sophia helped throw a baby shower for LeeAnn and her new baby. It was a great time, and we can’t wait to meet the new baby in August- maybe she will have a name by then. Sophia was a great baby as usual. She was a little upset at times, I am sure it was all the commotion going on around her that threw her off a little.

On Friday, Sophia turned 4 months old!!! We had her check up then, she weighed 14 pounds and 7 ounces which landed her in the 70th percentile. She is now 25 inches long- 78th percentile!! Hard to believe that she has grown so much in the last 2 months. We are not starting on rice cereal for a couple of weeks as she has had a little rash on her back and we want to make sure it is cleared up before she starts the cereal. She is really starting to reach for things- her fave is a set of links. She also loves to sit up in the Bumbo chair so she is able to check out everything around her. She still hates to lie on her belly, but it is getting better and better. She rolls from her belly to her back, but not every time she is on her belly. All in all, Sophie is a happy, go-lucky, sweet baby! Mommy and Daddy are truly blessed with such a great child!!!

Another Busy Weekend

Chillin' on the swing at Aunt Polly's

Anna helping feed her cousin

Sophia and Jasper just hanging out

What a beautiful smile!!! And yes, I think her hair will be red!

This video is of some of the cute sounds Sophia has started to make on a regular basis! AND she laughed out loud for the first time on Wednesday! I haven't heard it yet, but Marty and Grandmom witnessed it. I have been trying to get her to do it again, but haven't had any luck besides a little giggle once.

School is out for summer- officially!!! Yay! This means more for Mommy and Sophia to spend the days together!! (at least most days, since there are some when I have to go in for PD.) We kicked the summer off with a very busy start! My cousin, Kaye, and her family were in town from Texas and we spent Friday and Sunday visiting with them! It was great to see all the family we haven't seen in a while. Then, Debbie and Mike came to visit on Saturday. All in all, it was a very fun-filled weekend and Sophia is a trooper, hardly ever getting upset during all the transitions and passing her around.
Hard to believe that Sophia will be 4 months old on Friday. We have her 4 month check up then and are anixous to see how much she has grow. My guess is she will be over 13 pounds, maybe 13 and 3 ounces, and 25 inches long. I will let you know as soon as I can what the new stats are!!!

15 weeks

Sophia is continuing to amazing Daddy and Mommy with how big she is getting. She is such a sweet baby, almost always in a good mood. Generally she only cries if she is hungry. She has started to become very, very animated – she screams with delight and smiles at Mommy and Daddy all the time. She also recognizes us and is happy to see us in the morning when we get her out of her crib for the morning feeding. She no longer cries when she wakes up, instead there is just the smile and sometimes there are squeals of happiness. It is soooo sweet!!! She is still rolling over, but it is not every day. Sophie likes to ‘sit up’ to see what is going on around her. She also likes to ‘stand up’ when you are holding her. She doesn’t like to be held like a baby anymore as she likes to check everything out. Sophie also LOVES the TV, she will practically turn around to see the television when you holding her or playing with her. We might be in trouble with that. Sophia sleeps through the night every night, now. She usually goes to bed about 9:30 and is up at 6:00ish. We are so blessed to have such a happy, healthy baby!!

Going back to work was hard, but having a happy baby and one that sleeps through the night has made it easier. Nevertheless, I can’t wait to get home in the afternoon to see what she is doing. I am so thankful that Nana and Grandmom are taking such good care of her while I am at work- they are the best!!! I know I have nothing to worry about when she is with them. I am looking forward to being home with her again soon (only 3 more days!!!)

Rollin' On

BIG NEWS!!!! Sophia has rolled over from her belly to her back today!!! For the last few days when Sophie has been on her belly, she has been acting like for was on the way to rolling over. This morning Marty had her on her belly for tummy time --which I might add that she HATES- she started trying to get the momentum to get all the way over and after a couple of tries she made it!!! Marty and I were so excited to see her do it, and I think she was excited too. She got this huge smile on her face!! We tried it again, and she went right over! I hope to get some video of it soon to share.

Sophia's First Camping Adventure

This weekend Marty and I took Sophia on her first camping trip. I was very concerned all week about going, thinking that Sophie would not sleep and would make the trip miserable for all involved. Not the case, Sophia was a trooper. She was the happy baby that she almost always is!!! The only time she really was upset was when she got hungry which is no big surprise. She even slept just like she does at home, the only difference was she awoke about 6:30 each morning after taking a bottle about 5:00 because of the light coming in the camper. She did fall back asleep both mornings after a little coaxing.

Marty and I really enjoying being at the campground as well. It was so nice to be outside and hope it is something that we will be able to do a little more often. I think we are going to try a trip to Gatlinburg over Fall Break in October. We went with Mom and Doug and had dinner with them both nights. Sophie had a great time getting attention from Nana and Papaw, she did lots of smiling and cooing. She also loved checking out the trees around the camper and loved to go for walks around the grounds. Marty, Doug, and I went on a 6 mile canoe trip Saturday with our friends, Joe and Meiko. I had been canoeing before but not this stretch of Elkhorn. It had a lot more rapids to navigate, but we got through most of them without any injuries. It certainly was a great way to spend the afternoon. Sophie stayed with Nana at the campground- Thanks Mom!!!!

Busy, busy, busy

It seems like we have been so busy in the last few weeks. Sophia has grown so much!!! She is really becoming more and more active and involved in things that we are doing. She loves to play peek a boo with Mommy and Daddy, she smiles and is trying to laugh but just cant figure out exactly how to do it.

Last week, Sophia and I joined Aunt Kate, Morgan and Warren and headed up to Cincinnati to meet LeeAnn and Evan for a day at the Cincinnati Zoo. It was so much fun to watch all the kids look at the animals and run around. Sophia was GREAT!!! She slept the first few hours and then ate. After that, she was all smiles and enjoying being outside. I can't wait until next year so Sophia can really enjoy it!

Every morning I go into Sophia's bedroom and she is lying like this and I know she didn't start out this way!! It really is so cute.
