Thanksgiving Weekend

Wow! What a weekend! Marty and I celebrated Thanksgiving with both sides of the family. My grandmother who lives in Ohio, made the trip down to Kate's to see everyone. Kate and Telena made a great dinner, and of course we all ate way too much. For dinner, we headed to Georgetown to eat another yummy dinner at Aunt Bo's house. It was so wonderful to see everyone at both places. I kept thinking, this time next year we will be chasing Sophia around as I am sure she will be crawling by then!

This weekend I have been feeling more and more movements from Sophie. I have noticed a pattern of when she is more active and when I assume she must be sleeping. I guess she takes after the Hukill's since she is not too active until about 10ish in the morning-- my dad would be so proud!!!! I generally feel her again about 7ish for a couple of hours. It is truly an amazing feeling knowing she is in there moving around and growing all the time.

Today was a big day- we had a baby shower with family at my step-grandmother's house. She, Kate and Kerrie really did a wonderful job on the details. Everything was so thoughtfully put together and the food was wonderful! I generally do not like being the center of attention but it was well worth it being with all the people who truly care and love Sophie already! Marty and I are blessed to have a loving family and friends like we do!! When I arrived home, Marty was just as excited to see all the new baby items we received. I am anxious to get all her things washed and put away as well as wall hangings up and the crib ready! There is so much to do; however, I know that we will have plenty of time to get everything accomplished we need to before she arrives.

On Friday, I have to return to the doctor for the 3 hour glucose screening, since I apparently failed the one hour screening a couple of weeks ago. I will keep you updated as to how this goes. I am dreading it :(

24 Week Appointment

Today was our 24 week appointment at the doctor. It is so hard to believe that I am already six months along, and all has gone so well with the baby and me. I had to have an ultrasound first, at the last one Sophie would not cooperate well with the tech and show her heart. Today was no problem, though, we saw it beating as well hearing it. We also got to see her four chambers that were developed-- absolutely amazing!!! The tech also got a good picture of her foot that looks pretty big which is not a shock considering her dad has abnormally large feet--LOL!!! She also had her hands up over her face, so we couldnt get a look there. I asked her if she could tell me the weight, but they were not taking measurements for that today. At our last appointment, the tech told us she weighed 14 ounces, so I really wonder now how big she is since it has been four weeks since the last time we were there. I will try to post some of the shots she took later. I am already looking forward to the 4-D ultrasound we will have done in December.

Marty was able to feel her kick for the first time last night. I have been feeling kicks for some time (17 weeks) but they were not strong enough for Marty to feel. Since she has gained some weight, I guess she has a little more uummph behind them. It really feels like a little pulse when she does kick, and they are getting closer together. I am dreading when she really kicks me hard with those big feet-- ha!!

I will keep you updated as the next appointment is three weeks away. I will also be posting some pictures soon too, at least I hope!!
